For all you birdie breeders.

After breeding a variety of birds for over a decade I am taking an official break from it. This is due to the fact that I recently opened up my very own on-line bird store and I wanted to put all my extra attention to it.

As breeders we know that caring for parents and their babies requires a huge committment. (And the same goes for those of us who have pet birds as well). We worry that our ‘mommy’ bird has enough calcium, that the chicks will be warm enough, that the best food is offered to parents and babies, that when handfeeding we have top quality formula, that the formula is the right temperature and consistency. We worry that we feed the babies enough and that we dont feed them too much! We worry that they are growing properly and that they are well socialized. Yes, breeding birds, is a HUGE committment and concern and yet so rewarding!!! (more…)

We will ship your order via Canada Post Expedited Parcel. If you wish to have your items shipped via a different method please email me at cogglej@telus.net OR add this request in the comment section when you order and we will get in touch with you to work out the details.

Your order will be shipped the same day if ordered before 3:00pm Pacific time. Otherwise we will ship it the following morning. When you are placing your order if you feel the shipping is high PLEASE contact me at cogglej@telus.net and we will double check the cost. Bird Nutrition

Let’s talk about nutrition. I am interested to find out what people feed their birds. Do you feed pellets? seed mixes? both? What about veggies and fruit? How often do you feed your bird veggies and fruit? What about cooked foods such as grains, quinoa (pronounced ‘keen wa’), rices, etc etc? How many like to use the mixtures that you just have to add hot water or cook for a little while? Personally I LOVE those! And so do my birds. Have you found that all seeds are NOT created equal? Some more dusty than others? Freshness?

Just a few things to talk about. I have, personally, consistently tried new types of foods, recipes and mixes. Does anyone have any wonderful bird recipes that they would like to share?

Yum Yum Yum!

Mmm Mmmm good!
